5th LYCEUM of KARDITSA
INTRODUCTION
5TH GENERAL LYCEUM OF KARDITSA is a public sector, non-profit, secondary level educational institution, located in the rural area of Karditsa city, in Central Greece. It is the successor of the former Unified Multi-disciplinary High School, a unique successful school type that dominated the educational community for about two decades (1980-2000). Our School is a vibrant and fruitful institution, with many activities and always open to innovative ideas. We are proud of the scholarly performance and competency of our students, such that each one of them is accepted as a university student after taking his final exams of the 3rd Grade and successfully graduating. Also we encourage them to actively participate to extracurricular activities (sports, music, theatre, social volunteers). We comprise an institution that operates inside the society, senses its problems and needs and tries to prepare its students accordingly, for their forthcoming adult life. We tend to believe that “We are the incubators of our own future”.
Our school unit consists of 20 teachers and 150 students. Our facilities are complete (sports, labs, library, auxiliary spaces) and our digital infrastructure adequate (we accommodate fibber optics for fast internet connection). We cooperate in regular basis with peer schools and the Regional Educational Authority. There is a lot of accumulated experience in organization and implementation of Comenius School-Partnerships and now Erasmus+ projects. Especially in the area of ICT tools and technology artifacts, our effort is to digitize every procedure of the institution possible, embedding computation thinking synergies and ubiquitous learning tools, while cultivating analogous skills and culture to our students.
